Cagwait, Surigao del Sur – October 18, 2025 – In the spirit of compassion and solidarity, Americares Philippines conducted a Humanitarian Response and Distribution of Hygiene Kits to 300 families affected by the recent earthquake in Cagwait. The turnover ceremony was held on October 18, 2025, at the Cagwait Municipal Activity Center.

The activity was led by Americares Philippines Country Director, Mr. Paul Gwyn L. Pagaran, who officially handed over the hygiene kits to the Local Government Unit of Cagwait, represented by Vice Mayor Melchie C. Tuscano. The initiative aims to support affected families by promoting proper hygiene and sanitation practices during the recovery phase following the disaster.

A short program marked the event, featuring messages of appreciation and solidarity from both Americares and the LGU. To further strengthen health awareness, a proper handwashing demonstration was also conducted, emphasizing the importance of personal hygiene in preventing the spread of diseases, especially in post-disaster situations.

Vice Mayor Melchie C. Tuscano expressed heartfelt gratitude to Americares Philippines for their generosity and timely response to the needs of the community.
