In celebration of heritage, culture, and unity, the Municipality of Cagwait joined the nation in honoring the Indigenous Peoples through the 4th Indigenous Peoples Day and the 28th Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) Commemoration with the theme, โWeaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development.โ
The celebration was held on October 29, 2025, at the Barangay Tubo-tubo Gymnasium, beginning with a sacred Manobo ritual led by Baylan Danilo Tejero, followed by a meaningful program that showcased unity, tradition, and respect for the indigenous heritage of Cagwait.
This activity was facilitated by the Municipal Tourism Office โ Culture and the Arts Section together with Tourism Operations Officer I Crestito Andoy, with the presence of SB Guardiano Lozada, Barangay Captain Jecris Luna, Provincial IPMR representative Cesar Bat-ao (Administrative Aide III), Municipal Chieftain Castor V. Sibugan, Ermiegen S. Bajan, Renato Dave Casil- IP Community Focal, all Barangay IPMRs, all Barangay Chieftains, 2nd Lieutenant Nicko T Ceblano, Executive Officer of Charlie Company, 75th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army, Municipal Chieftain of Tago Renieboy Suazo L. Tejero, and the IP communities of Cagwait.
Special thanks to the JSSNS Drum and Lyre for adding color and rhythm to the parade that opened the dayโs celebration.
The event served as a reminder of the vital role of the Indigenous Peoples in shaping our identity and sustaining the rich cultural heritage of the municipality.
